Roads cleared at last!

The main state and county roads have been cleared by now. However, many of the township/side roads are still being worked on, so there is still no school in our area. My school has been out since 11:30 Monday morning! We must do what is best for our students' safety first. There are just too many rural township roads that our bus drivers must run, and some of them aren't open yet. We'll be back in session Monday.

Telephone Man worked (played) at getting a path dug out to our garage and then to the road so he could get out to work Wednesday -- hey, he must help keep every one's DSL going in our rural area!! As for me and my cat, we have been staying in where it is nice and warm.  I could be cleaning out closets or something along that nature -- notice I said I could be doing such!

I talked with my sister [who is a winter Texan in Rockport] and it is 28 degrees there this morning. They are really NOT having too much fun right now. She and her husband, my brother and his wife, and 3 sets of cousins/spouses all take their RVs and head for Rockport after Christmas. They aren't liking the cold temps down there but do not mind missing out on our single digit temps and 17 inches of snow here in central Illinois!

I browsed some of our motorcycle pictures this morning just for the fun of it (instead of doing any necessary housework!!). That was after I read Donna and Stu's entry  http://www.2takinga5th.blogspot.com/ about their road trip on their bikes to meet up with fellow bloggers for lunch. Oh, I can not wait to hop on Dyna and ride alongside Telephone Man to one of our favorite spots and motorcycle events! The annual Moonshine Lunch Run http://moonshine-run.com/Moonshine/ is coming up in April, and I registered us yesterday. Check the web page out for the run and read the history of this fun event; people ride from far and wide to eat a 'Moonburger' in Moonshine. Unfortunately the man who started it, Terry Hammond, died unexpectedly in November but some of his comrades are helping his wife organize it at least one more time. The Moonshine Store (Martinsville, IL)  has to be experienced to truly appreciate it! We guarantee that part of the fun is just finding it! Your GPS will do you no good -- stop any of the area farmers for directions. Their FPS [Farmers Positioning System] will work like a charm. LOL!

  1. This will be such a memorable Moonshine Run, wish we could make it but not ready to subject Miss Sadie to the huge crowds yet. Bike Week will be hard enough....LOL!
